Scary!?!

So who doesn't goggle themselves every once in awhile? I certainly do. Like many people, I am curious about my shadow on the internet (I borrowed that turn of phrase from Douglas Coupland). Up until about four months ago nothing, absolutely nothing could be found when one googled my full name. Now, you can google my name and several things come up. These include my friends Myspace page, a work related site and my sister's blog. To a certain extent it's cool to see yourself on the internet, but on the other hand it's creepy.

The insanity continues. The last week in US politics:

1. The House and Senate passed the Detainee Bill, which gives Bush control over jailing and "dealing" with "enemy combatants" as he chooses. Additionally, the bill allows him to interpret the Geneva Convention as he chooses. This means that the administration can unilaterally decided who is an enemy combatant, can jail them for as long as they want without oversight from the court and can torture them.

2. There was a pedophile running the Congressional Committee for Children! Additionally, many House Republicans have known for months, but let the man stay in his position. Foley was sending sexual emails back and forth with teens and was allowed to not only remain on the Committee for Children, but was actually the chair. Fuck!
